Location
We are located off-grid on the cooled lava flow. There are different ways to get to us and to explore the Big Island, either by bus with a bicycle or with a car. To make the best out of your journey we highly recommend a car. Please figure out the best way to get here by checking the informtions below.

How to get here by car
from Hilo Airport- head northwest on Airport Rd/Kekuanaoa St toward Ailolo St- turn left onto HI-11/Hawaii Belt Rd/Kanoelehua Ave- use the left 2 lanes to turn left onto HI-130/Keaau Pahoa Bypass Rd- follow HI-130 and continue onto Kaimu-Chain of Craters Rd- turn left onto Ala Lokelani- take the third left and your destination will be on the rightHow to get here with the Bus

Please let the bus driver know that you want to get dropped of in Kalapana (End of Highway 130) at Open Gate Hostel Bus drop off.
From there you will walk about 1 mile or our team will pick you up at the Bus Station if you tell us your arrival time.
